Wivenhoe Dam – Operational releases through radial gate

From 7 May 2024, Seqwater will be making low flow operational releases from Wivenhoe Dam through one radial gate while inspections and maintenance work is carried out on the cone valve.

From 7 May 2024, Seqwater will be making low flow operational releases from Wivenhoe Dam through one radial gate while inspections and maintenance work is carried out on the cone valve.

These releases will be to provide water supply and environmental flow for up to five days, which is usually supplied through the cone valve.

One radial gate will be opened by a small increment, to allow for the target flow of water supply as needed.

These operational releases are not expected to have downstream impacts and are being carefully managed by dam operators and flood engineers to match release volumes typically made from the cone valve, which can range from approximately 300 ML to 500 ML per day, depending on demand from the Mt Crosby Water Treatment Plants.

Should releases from the flood mitigation storage compartment at Wivenhoe Dam be required during this time, we’ll issue community notifications through our regular channels. Stay up to date on our dam release update page: https://www.seqwater.com.au/dam-release-update.
