Flood releases may begin in the next 2 days from Wivenhoe, Somerset or North Pine dams.

Wivenhoe Dam

No flood releases currently occurring from Wivenhoe Dam.

Somerset Dam

No flood releases currently occurring at Somerset Dam.

North Pine Dam

No flood releases currently occurring from North Pine Dam.

Ungated dams

A number of ungated dams continue to spill as a result of recent rainfall in the dam catchments across South East Queensland:

  • Cedar Pocket Dam
  • Wappa Dam

Ungated dams are designed to spill during periods of heavy rain to ensure the protection and safety of the dam. Read more about how gated and ungated dams work here

Avoid potential hazards downstream of dams such as fast flowing or deep water near waterways and floodplains.

All of Seqwater’s recreation sites, including our lakes, remain closed to recreation due to the severe weather event associated with Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Once conditions are safe, we will check for hazards and re-open lakes as soon as possible. We thank lake visitors for their understanding and patience. For more information, refer to our Recreation and Safety Notices
