Seqwater’s Next Generation Traineeship Program offers a rewarding career pathway into the water industry. Our program offers a two-year Traineeship in a structured vocational certificate III course, with additional training and development along the way, in a supportive and interesting environment.

We offer traineeships in:

Dam operations

As a Trainee Dam Operator, you could be monitoring and operating the dam infrastructure, inspecting pipelines, assisting with fishway operations, and delivering water quality and environmental catchment sampling.

Drinking water treatment

Trainee Operator Supply roles are focused on water treatment – collecting and assisting with the analysis of processing water samples, supporting in laboratory testing and are guided in understanding chemical doses and processing variables to treat water – all part of delivering our essential service.

Network operations

As a Trainee Network Operator, you will focus on network operations and bulk drinking water distribution. You could be monitoring water supply levels and water quality across the network, and controlling the supply of water across South East Queensland to make sure drinking water is moved to where it's needed most.

What will I be doing?

No two days are the same for an Seqwater trainee and each traineeship area is different. Generally, we’re looking for people who are:

  • keen to work in an industrial and/or mechanical environment
  • interested in learning how to operate electrical and mechanical water equipment
  • enjoy working outdoors OR
  • like an office/control room environment.

What do I need?

You’ll learn everything you need on the job. All you need to bring is a great attitude! We also ask that you:

  • are willing to learn and undertake Certificate III-level training
  • obtain a C-class manual driver’s license
  • are prepared to work in a set roster pattern, which may include weekends and public holidays (with appropriate entitlements)
  • once competent, participate in an on-call roster.
