Seqwater Capital Program Market Briefing

Seqwater is undertaking its largest capital investment program to date, aimed at improving dam safety to meet modern engineering standards, securing water reliability to meet forecast demands for the growing population of South East Queensland and sustaining our critical infrastructure.

Seqwater held a market briefing to provide an overview of our forward capital works program and the work we are doing for our customers.

Participation in the market briefing is not a prerequisite for future Expression of Interest or tender submissions.

This market briefing will occur twice a year to provide up to date information for our valued partners and suppliers, with the next briefing to occur in August 2025.

Is there any update on Northern Water (Sunshine Coast Desal)?

Seqwater continues to work with our water supply partners and the Queensland Government to investigate a range of options for future water supply and ensure the best outcomes for SEQ’s water security.

Is Seqwater interested in investing in a Systems Engineering and Assurance framework to support these activities? If yes what would be the best way to be part of the discussion?

Seqwater continually evaluates opportunities to enhance procurement efficiency, de-risk delivery, and support benefits realisation while maintaining safety and performance in a brownfield environment. As part of this, we are always open to exploring approaches, including Systems Engineering and Assurance frameworks, that could add value to our program.

While no specific decisions have been made regarding investment in such a framework at this stage, we welcome insights from industry on best practices and potential solutions. Interested parties can share relevant information or engage with our team by contacting [email protected].

Will Seqwater be seeking support of external consultants to support the procurement, transaction, analysis of the appropriate packaging/contract/delivery models etc. or is it your intention to self-perform these activities?

Seqwater is committed to adopting an approach that delivers the best outcomes for each project. This may involve self-performing key procurement and transaction activities, engaging external consultants for specialist advice, or a combination of both.

We will assess the most effective strategy for procurement, transaction structuring, and packaging/delivery models. Where external expertise adds value - such as in market analysis, transaction structuring, or specialist procurement advisory - we will engage external consultants to complement our in-house capabilities. Conversely, where internal expertise and resourcing are well-suited to delivering these activities efficiently, we will manage them internally.

Our focus remains on ensuring a robust, value-driven approach to procurement and project delivery, aligned with industry best practices and tailored to the unique needs of each project.
