Controlled releases from Wivenhoe, Somerset and North Pine may be required due to forecast rainfall

Our flood engineers are closely monitoring the weather and dam conditions 24/7 at the Flood Operations Centre which has moved to the Stand Up activation level.

Controlled releases of floodwater from Wivenhoe, Somerset and North Pine Dams may begin in the next 2 days due to forecast rainfall associated with Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

We will keep the community informed of our planned flood releases, after the system makes landfall. Updates will begin once the rain hits our catchments and as we prepare to release water downstream.

Wivenhoe Dam has a dedicated flood storage compartment above the water supply storage level. This is twice the size of the drinking water compartment and is currently 100% available. These releases are required to manage water levels and make room for further inflows.

Several ungated dams are also spilling. Please stay away from any fast flowing or deep water near waterways downstream of the dams.
